2016 Spring Tournament - Squash & Racketball

Dear All, It is that time of year again for the spring competitions. The events will be Squash Open, Squash Handicap and Racketball Handicap. Each of these events will also have a plate competition. The Squash Open (and plate) will be the best of 5 games, point a rally scoring to 15. In the event of the score being 14 all, a margin of two clear points is required to win the game. The Squash and Racketball Handicap events (and plates) will be the best of 5 games, point a rally scoring to 11 with 'sudden death' at 10 all. We are also going to trial a squash doubles event. The full format and timing of this will be confirmed once we know how many people wish to take part. If this proceeds, it is intended that all matches will be the best of 3 games with point a rally scoring to 11 with 'sudden death' at 10 all. Further information is to be found within the "Tournament Details" for this event. Please enter as individuals, the committee will agree upon the pairings to try and ensure a 'level playing field'. Entries must be made via the MyCourts booking system. Please log-in and select "Tournaments" from the top menu bar and then select 2016 and the respective competition(s) that you wish to enter. The closing date is 26th February, 2016. The entry fee, as per last year, will be £1.50 per event. This will be automatically deducted when you register. Therefore, please ensure you have sufficient credit in your account to cover your entry fees. The finals together with dinner will be held on Saturday, 7th May, 2016 so please put this date in your diaries and come along to lend your support. The provisional timetable is as follows:- Competitions announced / entries received - 1st February Closing date for entries - 26th February Competitions start - 7th March 1st round play by - 23rd March 2nd round / 1st round plate - 14th April Quarter finals by - 28th April Semi finals by - 4th May Finals & Dinner - 7th May The matrix handicapping system used successfully over the last four years will continue this year. This will be based upon the average league position over the last six months (where possible) albeit the committee reserve the right to make adjustments where appropriate. The competition rules will shortly be posted online and on the squash section noticeboard. However, if you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to contact me. Best of luck, Graeme Mascall Competitions Organiser
