Our squash courts are back in action
Courts repaired, cleaned and ready to go!
We're over the moon to tell you that following a crazy week, during which our members absolutely excelled themselves in terms of hard work and skill, both courts are back in play and ready to be booked.
Wednesday saw water levels outside the court up to the door handle. Water was flowing underneath the courts and coming in through the walls. Our team came up with the brilliant idea of pumping the water out faster than it could come in and worked literally around the clock to minimise the damage.
The heating was checked and humidifiers brought in to dry things out. Once the floor had stopped expanding, repairs were carried out. Finally, the mess and dirt left behind from the flood was able to be cleaned up.
A huge thank you to Mike Hornsby , Andy Campbell , Jonathan Peak and Jonathan Partridge for their time and talent in getting our courts back in action so quickly.
Two very serious points though.
- Please don't use the water machine as it's likely to be contaminated from the flood water. We'll replace the filter as soon as we can.
- And never leave the courts if you're the last one there WITHOUT CLOSING THE FLOOD GATE .
While we suffered a fair amount of damage this time, it would have been so much worse if that gate had been open.
Whatever the weather, and whatever the time of year, make sure the flood gate is closed.
Now go and play!
